Our company has achieved a major technical milestone today with the successful commissioning and full performance testing of our new customized 50mm thick solid plastic lumber machine. This professional complete plastic lumber extrusion line is independently configured and optimized for thick solid plastic board production, specially designed for recycling and reusing waste PE (polyethylene) and PP (polypropylene) mixed plastic materials. The line is capable of stably producing standard 200mm-wide, 50mm-thick full-solid plastic boards, marking a key breakthrough in our high-value waste plastic recycling and thick profile precision manufacturing capacity.
During the first phase of trial commissioning, the production line faced typical technical bottlenecks in thick recycled plastic board molding. Running with initial default parameters, the extruder barrel temperature was set between 160°C–175°C, while the mold temperature remained uneven across zones. Using mixed post-consumer waste PE and PP recycled materials—including crushed waste plastic packaging, industrial plastic scraps and recycled plastic granules—the first batch of trial boards presented severe surface quality issues. Visual inspection showed dense pits and surface depressions with a maximum depth of 0.8–1.2mm. In addition, initial dimensional deviation was obvious: actual thickness varied from 47.2mm to 52.5mm, and width tolerance exceeded ±3.5mm, far failing to meet the finished product standard tolerance of ±0.5mm.
Meanwhile, the team implemented precise mold temperature zoning control, balancing the left, middle and right mold cavity temperatures within a controlled range of 175°C–182°C to achieve consistent material outflow speed. On the forming system side, we officially added a customized 200mm×50mm high-precision fixed-size shaping mold. The calibration system was upgraded to 300mm*4pcs calibrator and 3 meter water cooling, with cooling water temperature stably controlled at 28°C–32°C and water circulation flow increased by 40%. The gradual low-temperature shaping process effectively eliminated internal stress and surface shrinkage pits caused by rapid uneven cooling of thick plates.
After 6 rounds of iterative parameter testing and continuous trial production, the production line achieved stable and standardized continuous operation. The final finished 200mm-wide and 50mm-thick solid plastic boards deliver a completely flat, pit-free and smooth surface with uniform texture and high compactness. Post-test data shows that the finished product thickness is stably controlled at 49.7–50.3mm, and the width is maintained at 199.8–200.2mm, fully meeting the standard tolerance requirement of ±0.5mm. The whole production process realizes efficient recycling of waste PE and PP materials, converting low-value waste plastic scraps into high-performance industrial and civil solid plastic lumber with a qualified rate reaching 100% in the final batch test.
This advanced plastic lumber production line is a professional environmental protection extrusion equipment tailored for waste plastic recycling, featuring strong material adaptability and high production stability. It can process various types of mixed waste PE and PP materials, including waste plastic pipes, waste sheets, packaging plastics and industrial leftover scraps, with a recycled material utilization rate up to 98%. The full-line equipment integrates automatic forced feeding, homogenizing extrusion, precise mold shaping, constant-temperature water cooling and fixed-length cutting, supporting continuous 24-hour stable production. Compared with ordinary plastic board equipment, this thick-board production unit features higher extrusion pressure and more accurate multi-stage temperature control, specifically optimized for the high-density molding requirements of 50mm ultra-thick solid plates, with lower energy consumption and higher finished product consistency.
The qualified 50mm thick solid plastic boards produced from recycled PE and PP materials possess excellent comprehensive physical properties, including high surface hardness, strong compression resistance, impact resistance, waterproofness, anti-corrosion and anti-aging performance. Free from cracking, warping and fading problems that commonly occur in traditional solid wood and ordinary plastic boards, the recycled plastic lumber requires no paint or regular maintenance and can serve for more than 15 years in outdoor environments. The high-spec 200mm×50mm thick boards are widely applied in heavy-load and anti-corrosion scenarios, including municipal landscape walkways, garden outdoor platforms, scenic viewing platforms, logistics warehouse heavy-duty floor boards and plastic pallets, sewage treatment tank anti-corrosion base plates, dock anti-slip laying boards, courtyard flooring and construction temporary support plates.
A spokesperson from the company’s technical department stated, “Thick solid plastic lumber made from mixed recycled PE and PP materials has always had prominent technical pain points such as unstable melting and easy surface shrinkage pits. Through precise temperature zoning optimization, sizing mold upgrading and three-stage water cooling improvement, we have successfully overcome the industry difficulty of thick recycled plastic board molding. The stable dimensional accuracy and flawless surface quality verified the reliability of our process formula and equipment adjustment, laying a solid foundation for large-scale batch production of high-standard thick recycled plastic lumber.”
This new production line takes waste PE and PP plastics as raw materials, realizing the resource recycling of waste plastics while producing high-thickness, high-strength solid plastic boards. It effectively reduces waste plastic stacking pollution and realizes secondary value creation of renewable resources. The official commissioning of the line further enriches the company’s high-end recycled plastic product portfolio, improves overall resource utilization efficiency, and injects continuous new momentum into the enterprise’s high-quality green and sustainable development.
