Yongte Successfully Completes Custom Coconut Shell Recycling WPC Line Trial for Vietnam Client
Qingdao Yongte Plastic Machinery Co., Ltd., a leading Chinese turnkey supplier of wood-plastic composite (WPC) and biomass recycling equipment, has achieved a full successful trial operation of its customized coconut shell recycling WPC production line for a professional coconut processing enterprise in Vietnam. The fully tailored system targets local waste coconut shell characteristics, realizing efficient transformation of low-value agricultural waste into high-quality, high-performance WPC profiles via standardized crushing, pulverizing, mixing, granulation and extrusion processes.
Vietnam boasts a prosperous coconut planting and processing industry, generating millions of tons of waste coconut shells annually. For a long time, most discarded coconut shells have been disposed of through landfilling, incineration or random abandonment, causing river blockage, pest breeding, excessive carbon emissions and severe biomass resource waste.
Traditional universal WPC equipment fails to adapt to Vietnam’s raw material conditions. The unique high-moisture, high-fiber and high-abrasion properties of coconut shells easily lead to common product defects including bubbling, delamination and cracking during production. Aiming at these localized pain points, Yongte developed a exclusive customized recycling solution perfectly matching Vietnamese waste coconut shell resources.
The on-site trial operation covered the complete closed-loop production workflow of coconut shell resource regeneration, achieving fully automated and stable production throughout all procedures. The whole process includes coarse crushing and fine pulverization of waste coconut shells, deep dehydration and dual-channel hot air drying (reducing shell flour moisture to ≤2%), sorting and cleaning of recycled plastic materials, high-speed thermal mixing, twin-screw compound granulation, and precision co-extrusion molding of WPC profiles.
During continuous testing, the production line stably operated with a formula ratio of 50%–70% local waste coconut shell flour blended with recycled PP/PE agricultural film scraps, perfectly adapting to local waste raw material types and meeting the client’s expected production capacity standards.
The trial successfully produced qualified coconut shell-based WPC products including outdoor decking boards, wall panels and furniture profiles. Performance test data shows the finished materials reach a flexural strength of over 24 MPa and an impact strength of above 14 kJ/m², with outstanding advantages of termite resistance, corrosion resistance, low water absorption and UV resistance.
These superior properties enable the WPC profiles to adapt to Vietnam’s long-term high-temperature and high-humidity tropical coastal environment. Compared with pure solid wood products, Yongte’s coconut shell WPC materials require no regular paint maintenance, effectively reduce deforestation, and cut overall carbon emissions by approximately 32%, achieving remarkable environmental benefits.
“Vietnam is rich in coconut biomass waste but lacks targeted and mature recycling technology,” commented Yongte’s Technical Director. “Our customized line fundamentally solves the two core bottlenecks of coconut shell processing: ultra-high natural moisture and strong fiber abrasion.”
The optimized bimetallic wear-resistant screw and barrel structure adapts to high-hardness coconut shell filler formulas, greatly extending equipment service life. The segmented intelligent temperature control system avoids local carbonization of coconut shell flour, while the dual-stage deep dehydration and drying module completely eliminates product surface defects caused by excess moisture. Meanwhile, the solution allows mixed feeding of miscellaneous coconut shells and straw biomass with an impurity tolerance of up to 5%, significantly reducing raw material sorting and pre-processing costs.
A prominent highlight of Yongte’s turnkey system is its complete closed-loop recycling capability. All production offcuts, residual profiles and expired WPC finished products can be re-crushed, reground and re-extruded without obvious attenuation of mechanical performance, realizing zero waste in the whole production cycle.
The finished coconut shell WPC materials are widely applicable in municipal landscape engineering, building decoration, aquaculture facilities, logistics fumigation-free packaging and agricultural plantation facilities, bringing sustainable profit growth and green transformation opportunities for Vietnamese clients.
The successful trial operation of the Vietnam project fully verifies the applicability of Yongte’s coconut shell recycling WPC solution for Southeast Asian tropical coconut-producing regions. On the basis of this mature case, Yongte will further optimize regional customized formulas, provide full-life-cycle services including equipment installation guidance, production formula training and professional after-sales support, and help more global clients realize high-value recycling of agricultural and industrial waste biomass.
